Did you mean:

ivi configuration of serial settings

Sir Mutt,

While waiting for that to get installed, I came across this site:

http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/2804#toc1

This is not only useful for understanding drivers, but it happens to discuss this product! I'm assuming you looked at the Configure VI's of this palette already. Just to double check: did you look through all of these to see if they can do the configurations you're wanting?

Hi Renee,

Yes I've seen these drivers.  But these aren't the IVI drivers.  we're using IVI to allow interchangeability (if that's a word) of hardware if need be.  We have a number of test systems and had issues with test equipment going obsolete and need to replace.  IVI would allow for drop in replacement rather than re-writing code for new hardware.

Thanks.

Sir Mutt,

Ahh, gotcha. I am in and out of meetings this morning but will be back at my desk this afternoon. I can't think of anything else useful offhand, but will continue to poke around for you.

Sir Mutt,

I haven't been able to find anything which I think will be useful for you, unfortunately. I will be out of office for a few days, but if you find you still need help then post on here again and I will take another stab at finding something.

It does not make any sense to configure the serial port any place other than MAX. If you want the interchangability, keep something so specific out of the program. Or are you planning to always replace a serial instrument with another serial instrument?
