kollmorgen

Hello ,

I am trying to communicate with Kollmorgen Drive AKD and , I am able to communicatw with Telnet. I am able to send commands also like DRV.OPMODE , DRV.EN , DRV.DIS. and I am getting the response also. I am trying to figure it out how to run the servo motor , like what set of commands I need to send to make the motor run via Labview. I am able to run via Kollmorgen AKD workbench.

Any help is appreciated. Thank You in advance.

I am not sure why you are asking this question here other than that you are using LabVIEW.

Any questions about commands need to be directed to the manufacturer.

Read the manual if there is one.

Thank you for taking time and replying. I already called the manufacturer they said call NI because they are supporting it. I also call NI , then NI told me that we do not have anything . so reson I am posting is if somebody has gone through this can put me in the right direction from where to start. i have the manual and everything and read it like tn times. To make a single move I think i have to send like 50 different commands. In what manner to send those commands I have no idea. If somebody can give any example in any programming of sending the commands I will be able to make it work then.

thank you for replying

It is not a NI issue. It is not NI's equipment.

Just an aside and take it for whatever you feel it is worth

AKI Touch Panel with AKD Sample Project Simple Config Rev01(1)

That is freely available from the manufacture's website.

Now look again!  Closer.... at the footer of any page...............Smiley Surprised

Spoiler
Internal Kollmorgen Document
Proprietary and Confidential

Now, in my experience, I've often found that companies which make blunders like that usually don't have a "Core Compentancy" of communicating well.  Why would you chose a product from them?

Jeff, your link points to a document on your HD, it will not work for us. Do you have a direct link.

Alternatively, you could attach the document.

Hello Jeff ,

thank you very much for replying. I have downloaded all these douments and read also. there is an AKD programming Basic Manual where they have given all the commands ( like thousand) but they have not given a single exmpale of how to send those commands to make a motor move. when I was programming IAI , they have set of instructions and also they  have examples in the end of how to send the commands and create it into ASCII or RTU which was very helpfull.

But here in Kollmorgen there is nothing just commands after commands. you read one command and it has reference to  many others and before this you have to send this , but not a single example.

I guess my advice to you really resolved to.... don't bother with that controller other than to ask for your money back.  Numbers of commands in the high hundreds? and no example of implementation? Then they can't decide if a few poorly commented screenshots are "Propriatary" or "Necessaryilly Public"?  Dump the jokers and buy another stepper motor driver.
