I am installing Labview Developer Suite 2015 onto a new laptop, nidaq mx was installed prior, we have been having a problem on other computers that had a previous version of Labview installed (2014) and with different discs (we have 3 licenses). we are getting stuck at step 8, even on the new computer. We have canceled the install at this point and been able to get around it but what is causing an improper install? thank you for any input.

What is "Step 8"?
LabVIEW Installations have actually improved over the years, but it still is not for the "faint of heart", especially if LabVIEW was previously installed. Here are some suggestions in inverse order of likelihood of success, but quickest if they work:

We have come across a lot of problems with LabVIEW not recognizing drivers installed before LabVIEW. Like Bob_Schor said i'd recommend installing device drivers last.
If the installation continues to hang, maybe try stopping the Windows Update via the Windows Service before you begin installation. But be sure to start Windows Update again after installation

Thank you for the response, we probably need to do an uninstall and install a piece at a time until we hit the problem. The point at which it hangs up is step 8 of 15 on DS2 which is the Labview 2015 DataFinder Toolkit. We have canceled the install at that point and have enough installed to do what we normally need to do but it is not a complete install. most of the time we are upgrading from 2014 to 2015 but in this case it was onto a new computer that didn't have a previous version of Labview. it did have the nidaq mx drivers installed first.

Thank you, I saw this after my last reply. I will give it a try, I think I will uninstall everything and start with Labview 2015

If you are going to use my Method 3 (a.k.a. Remove and Replace), you should be able to do the Replacement safely using the "All-at-once" approach, since Setup does LabVIEW then Toolkits/Modules and, finally, Device Drivers. If you do get stuck on Step 8 (or any other step), take note of what happened, screen shots of error messages, and come back here for help. Some of us may want to try to duplicate what you are doing, so tell us:
Good luck. Even if (or especially if) it works, come back and tell us.
