Hi Pal1977!

At the moment the only versión of labview supported under Vista OS is 8.2.1.

Thats the reason why labview 8.0 is not working. You can try to download a trial version of 8.2.1 here.

Best regards and have a great day! 🙂

Hello,

If you are a student, it may be worth checking whether your school has a volume license agreement with National Instruments so that you have a reduced cost or even free option for getting access to LabVIEW 8.2.1

Kind regards,

i had already checked with my college license , they do not have it , why else would i be using the student edition?its not fair on windows and other software companies to force to buy new edition, they should have been backward compatable.

It's a bummer to install a program and find it doesn't work with the operating system. But. Incompatibilities with a new operating system are just business as usual. Happened with XP. Happened with 98. Etc.

There's a good reason people are not in a hurry to upgrade. There's a reason Dell still sells XP on professional-type machines. There's a reason they call it "bleeding edge."

Hi pal1977,

Please also bear in mind that LabVIEW 8.0 was released in 2005, long before the release of Windows Vista.  There is really no way that LabVIEW could have been designed to work on an operating system that did not yet exist at that time.  On the other hand, I have seen older versions of LabVIEW work on Vista, but there is no guarantee that versions earlier than 8.2.1 will work.

Unfortunately, your options are to either revert back to Windows XP or upgrade to LabVEW 8.2.1 in order to be sure that your setup will work.  I realize this isn't ideal, but please note that the student edition of LabVIEW is very affordable.
