labview re-install

I've been troubleshooting an intermittent freeze problem in labview 8.6 and have been advised to repair/reinstall Labview. What is the best way to do this? Is it to just insert the DVD and let it go to town? Is there a specific, preferred method to do a repair install? What will happen, if anything, to any add-ons like Report gen Toolkit? Will Toolkits have to be re-installed also? Will all the critical files just be overwritten or will folders/files first be removed then re-created?

On Windows you can go to the control panel, select NI software, in the next dialog you can repair LabVIEW.
