load error code 9: VI version (8.2) is newer than the LabVIEW version (8.2b23).

Hi Dennis,

I think xf is okay with having a legal copy of LabVIEW, according to his humongous Word Doc file, unless I'm mistaken.  The original poster of this thread from a year ago was using the illegal copy.  His login name even proudly announces that.  labview 8.2b23,

XF tacked onto the old thread, he really should have created a new one.

I need help desperately...argh!! I am still facing the same problems after weeks.

Things are messy, here the story goes:

The PC I work on has 3 versions, Labview 7.0, 8.0 and 8.2.  These are legal copies.I have this demo.vi written by someone else using 8.0, but I opened it with 8.2, then saved it. The 8.2 version on my PC is not fully installed. There are missing vi.lib files whenever demo.vi is loaded using 8.2. Hence, I directed the missing files to Labview 8.0 vi.lib files.  Demo.vi cant be opened using 8.0 anymore eversince then. The error appeared, is attached earlier (see my word file).

I tried, re-installing labview 8.0 to get back those converted vi,lib files back to 8.0 version and open a demo.vi file which has not been converted before. But the error persists.  I tried repairing the files, same thing happens. I only re-installed Labview 8.0, not those toolkits or FPGA module.

There are many things I dont understand, please enlighten me..

1) Are the files in vi.lib be automatically be on my computer whenever I installed Labview 8.0? They need not be written?

2) what are the vi.lib files?

3) Anywhere on NI website where I can download vi.lib for Labview 8.0?

I've tried re-installing n repairing Labview 8.0, and I don't know what else I can do... Please help me...

Hello xf,

My instinct tells me that if you opened up any 8.0 library VI's within 8.2 and then saved your program, you may have updated all subVI's in your 8.0 library to 8.2 VI's. That would explain why they are unusable in 8.0. The right way to get around that problem, for future reference, is to browse to the equivalent VI in the 8.2 library when opening the main VI.

To solve your problem, I would recommend that you delete the affected libraries and then repair LabVIEW. If you need help doing this, please let us all know and I or someone else will be happy to try and help.

HI xf,

I believe the rvi library is created when installing the NI-RIO driver. I would recommend renaming the directory that is giving you a problem and then repairing (Add/Remove Programs»National Instruments...) the NI-RIO 3.0 driver. If the original folder is recreated, you'll know that NI-RIO is the driver that is responsible for that. Please let us know whether or not you figure it out.

Thanks,
