missing controls on the front panel

You cannot make it look like the old one unless you provide your own controls. You can still select the markers. Just click on the names. Please read the LabVIEW Help on how to use the new cursor legend.

From the main LabVIEW Help, with the Contents tab shown, go to Fundamentals -> Graphs and Charts -> How-To -> Graphs -> Adding Cursors to Graphs. There is also information in chapter 10 of the LabVIEW Fundamentals manual, which is in the <labview install directory>\manuals.

 

Also, this document talks about the cursor palette, indicating the differences in operation between LabVIEW 7.x and 8.x. Note that the document has the right-hand side chopped off due to incorrect HTML formatting. A number of documents suffer this problem. It has been reported.
