missing subpalettes in the Function Palette

Three of the subpalette icons do not appear in the Functions Palette: Analyze, Graphics & Sound, and Report Generation. When I try to use the Options Menu to edit the Palette, a question mark icon appears as a placeholder. I have tried reinstalling LV entirely, and have also tried reinstalling just the NI-DAQ software itself. The problem persists.

I'm running LV 6.1 on WinXP Pro. The NI-DAQ software I installed was: NI-DAQ 6.9.2 Device Driver, LV 6.1 Support, NI-DAQ OPC Server. I have followed Default installations on everything.

Is it possible that you only have the LabVIEW Base system? Some of these items are only available in the full development system or higher. (See e.g. the LabVIEW Development Systems comparison chart).

We are using just the Base system. That seems to explain most of it. The comparison chart is very useful; thanks for that link. It raises a couple more questions though:

  1. There are VIs listed in the LV Help pages that don't seem to exist in the LV Base package. As a concrete example, searching through the Index, I find Sine Wave. The entry explicitly states that Sine Wave is not in the Base Package. The next entry is Sine Waveform. There is no note explaining that Sine Waveform is not in the Base Package. Incidentally, my original query came about because I could not find the Sine Waveform VI that I need to run the Function Generator (under Activity/Solutions).

  2. There are a couple of things I can find that the Comparison Chart tell
s me I shouldn't have. The two I can think of are the "Linear Algebra and Array Operations" and "Publish HTML Documents" (both under Analysis Tools). I can find menus for both Linear Algebra and Array Operations, and I did generate an HTML document a couple of days ago. I'm not aware that we're using any extensions that would allow me that. It's possible that the capabilities of these functions are simply scaled back in the Basic Package.

My larger bewilderment is the first point above. It seems odd that the Help pages would explicitly point out that one option doesn't exist in this package, but neglect another option. And it seems odder still that the tutorial included in this package would include an activity that requires an option that doesn't exist in the package (at the very least without pointing that out).

It's conceivable to me that this is a simple oversight. Can anyone confirm this? Is it possible that it's not an oversight, and these options are buried somew
here in the menus?

Thanks for the help altenbach.

Hi Colin,

It seems to be an oversight that LV 6.1 help file does not mention sine waveform to be not supported in LV base package. I just checked the help files for LV 7.0 and 7.1 and they do mention that both sine wave and sine waveform are not supported in base package.

The LV comparison chart on ni.com is for LV 7.1 and does not necessarily apply to LV 6.1. LV 6.1 base package comes with Web Publishing tools that support HTML publishing which explains why you were able to generate HTML documents. About the "Linear Algebra and Array operations", could you please elaborate on what vis are available to you in your LV function palette.
