new activation when out of office

I just saw http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&thread.id=391054 and realized i have a similar question/problem.

Last week i brought my laptop to a customer to fix some code where it's used, and then LV started hollering about Product Activation. Should i just activate as i get back to the office and get Internet connection again, or what's up?

Hi Yamaeda,

Do you only see this problem when you take your laptop off the network in the office?  It may be that your laptop is looking for a licence server on the network.  You can check this by going to NI Licence Manager >> Options >> Preferences and checking if "Use Network License Servers" is ticked.

Hi Y,

did you switch off (aka "disable") the network port used when activating LabView? LV may also complain for new activation when the network connection is disabled as it (wrongly) detects a different computer setup...

Best regards,
GerdW

I dont disable my network, but as it's a laptop it might disable itself. It did give a message which sounded like a new computer setup.

I dont use a livense server, according to my license manager.
