What do you mean? Those are drivers for different types of hardware. You don't use either one to communicate to the other.

I am using a rs-232 card for extra COM ports. When I use NIDaq 830 i can't find these COM ports by the "Divices and Interface"s/Ports"

I still don't quite understand. NI-DAQ has nothing to do with com ports. Are you really talking about MAX? That has a listing for Devices and Interfaces. The ports on your RS-232 card should be listed there if you have installed the drivers for the card and also installed NI-VISA. You can verify the driver installation in windows device manager and MAX will list all NI software installed so you can verify if NI-VISA is there. Are you able to see the new com ports with Hyperterminal?

Hello,

I dont have installed NI-VISA, normally when I used NI-DAQ 7.1 it was installed already. Now I have installed NIDAQ 830 from the NI-site.

Maybe that is the solution.

thanks.

I don't believe NI-VISA was ever installed when you just installed a DAQ driver. I think it has always been a separate download and a separate option on the drivers CD that comes with LabVIEW. When you use the drivers CD, both are typically installed as the default so maybe that is what you did before.
