I have just installed labview 2010 on a new windows 7 machine. When I install the niDAQ software, automation explorer does not recognize my DAQ board (pcie-6259). Windows says the board is fine, and recognizes it,
The problem appears to be with a program called NIdevmon which crashes on startup.
Have disabled all antivirus software and firewall.
Have reinstalled labview several times.
Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

Hi simwat,
nidevmon is a helper app that displays a dialog when you plug in a USB device. nidevmon is not necessary to operate your PCIe-6259. That said, it shouldn't crash, and the fact that it does crash may reveal more clues as to why your device doesn't work.
How does nidevmon crash? Can you post a screenshot?
Are there any errors from NI software (e.g. NIPALK or NIDEVLD) in the Windows Event Log?
Are there any crash dumps in C:\ProgramData\National Instruments\MAX\Logs?
What version of NI-DAQmx did you install?
What antivirus/firewall software did you disable?

I could not find the NI log file you spoke of. (Is that the correct location for windows 7?)
I am using NI-DAQmx 9.1.5
I disabled windows firewall
I unistalled Macaphee anitvirus temporarily.
Thanks,
Simon

Problem resolved:
I reinstalled windows 7 and reinstalled labview 2010 and now it sees the PCIe device.
Must have messed up some registry files with all these install/unistalls.
Thanks

Hi Simon,
Glad to hear you were able to work around the problem. If it starts crashing again, please post here or contact NI technical support.
In regard to the log file location: yes, that is the correct location on Windows Vista and Windows 7, but not XP. Also, C:\ProgramData is a hidden folder, so it won't show up in Explorer by default.
