nimxs.exe crash after installing LabVIEW 8

After installing LabVIEW 8, the following crashes on boot:

nimxs.exe
ni-pal
nimax.exe

How do I correct this without reinstalling everything?  I have everything from LV 6.1 to LV 8 installed.  Uninstalling/Reinstalling MAX 4.0 is not the answer since that would require uninstalling a million other applications ...

HELP.

Ching,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but unfortunately those errors indicate that some driver or low level file has become corrupt. The only real remedy is a reinstallation of software. Though you may not have to reinstall everything, it may be a last resort. Since you just upgraded to LabVIEW 8.0 I'm sure you also installed DAQmx 8.0 that came with the driver CD (if you installed from a CD) as well. This is where I would start. You should uninstall both DAQmx 8.0 and LabVIEW 8.0 and reinstall them. Now, if you installed your drivers from the CD there has been a small revision to them since then. So when you reinstall LabVIEW 8 do not chose to install the DAQmx drivers from the CD. After LabVIEW finishes installing, go the NI website and download the drivers from there as they will be the most up to date. Hopefully this will do it for you, but it isn't out of the realm of possibility that you may have to uninstall/reinstall all of the programs associated with MAX.  Here is a link to the up-to-date drivers:

I did end up resinstalling MAX 4.0 and that seemed to have resolved the issue ... 6 hours later.

During the uninstall process, a couple of Windows system dll's were unregistered which caused a networking problem which was resolved by manually registering the dlls.  The normal user would have had no idea how to fix this.

Blah ...
