nipalk.sys - blue screen - system crash

Hi,

I have an application written in Labview 8 that acquires data from an NI counter/timer card every 10 minutes or so.
(application is running on 3 identical systems)
At the moment I am bench testing one of the computers and it is working fine as long as the counter card is getting
a pulse signal on all of the channels that are being acquired.

But, if I disconnect the pulse signal to one of the channels the program continues working ok for an hour or so
(except of course it displays an error on the channel which is d/c)

but then either one of 2 things happens:

I get the blue screen with the following info

"Problem seems to be caused by the following file : nipalk.sys

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"

And

"Technical Information :
STOP : 0x00000050 (0xF8A2CFFF, 0x00000001, 0xF822DDAB, 0x00000000).

Nipalk.sys - address F822DDAB base at F81DC000, Datestamp 45d523b0"
OR the screen just goes completely black and I have to restart the computer.
In either case, when the computer restarts I get a message saying "system has recovered
from a serious error, please tell microsoft about this problem etc...."
I was originally running the version of DAQmx which came with the counter/timer card
but was having similar problems, now I'm using the latest version of DAQmx which I downloaded
from NI a couple of weeks ago.
I have identical software running on 2 other almost identical computers which dont suffer this problem. :S
any ideas????
thanks,
Tim
