obtaining specific values from an array

I got deeply involved with  MATLAB  while in school,and I love it so much , just like LabVIEW too

In my opinion, the best way is to be active in the forum. http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/newsreader/.

When people post a problem , try and solve it on your own, then look at the opinion of others when they post solution.

Two books that are particularly good are:

1. MATLAB An Introduction with Applications by Amos Gilat

2. Mastering MATLAB 7 by Duane Hanselman.

The first one in particular will give you a good foundation, while the second one is something you will need for a lifetime reference.
