order analysis: peak-to-peak values of orders

Hello,

If I have an analog signal (single-tone sinusoid) and I use it as my tach signal and send the same signal through the OAT Extract Order Waveforms (getting just the 1st order), should I expect to see an order waveform with the same peak-to-peak magnitude as my original waveform?

The signal of interest is 6Vpp (-3V to 3V).  The 1st-order waveform is 3.6Vpp (-1.8V to 1.8V).

Since the 1st-order is the frequency of the original signal, it seems that the 1st order waveform magnitude should be the same or at least closer than 60% of the original signal.

Any information/guidance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris,

The OAT Extract Order Waveforms applys a Gaussian window to the signal by default. You can try to change the window type to "None" to see if the output meets your expectation.
