Unfortunately no.

You cannot reset of break the password.

Un;ess you can remember the password, you may have to rewrite the vi.

You can still use it as is.

I did not write this VI, so technically I can not get in trouble for posting it (I hope).

In fact, I found the VI right on these forums Smiley Surprised.... troublemakers Smiley Mad

Password Crack is the top level VI, Index Next Char is a dependecy, so keep it in the same folder somewhere.

Run the Password Crack VI, and load the VI that you forgot the password.
Go have coffee and come back in a bit and cross your fingers

That better be a big pot of coffee...

Somewhere around version 6i NI added a delay in that method. Prior to that, if you had a good idea what the password may have been, then brute force approaches like that would work, but even then it could take a long time.

Ever since the delay was added, the time has jumped up to a couple of life-times to find the password.

Thanks Ben,

That's what I thought I remembered.  Because about a year ago (or more) we discussed this topic, didn't we?  And as I recall, it was next to impossible to recover a lost password.

So no need for Scandonavian (externded ASCII) passwords.

Sorry for the person who lost the password...  So my first post was correct 😞
