If your only goal is to write fewer bytes to disk, there are others ways to do this:

- decimate waveform (or just reduce the acquisition frequency)

- convert DBL to SGL

I want to change the bouan state periodically to enable and disable recording.

I only want to do this on one of the parameters; above all!

I was unable to get a register to work to read the state of the ball at each iteration
