pi40iv initialize with option - always resets device

HI all

I having an issue with the Pickering's "pi40iv initalise with option string" subvi and was wondering if anyone else had a similar issue. The Pickering switching unit is being using used to set a number of paths around our ATE and also to toggle dry contacts. I have created two standalone subvis one sets the paths and another set the dry contacts. The issue that I am trying to solve is that every time I reopen the instrument handle the device resets and therefore clearing the previously set RF paths or dry contacts. This always occurs even if "reset device" Boolean control is set to false.

Any advice about solving this issue would be gratefully received

Many thanks

D.Barr

Hi D.Barr,

Which driver (including version) are you using? It would be easiest for us to help if you could upload the VI that you are working with, and if possible, to also upload the sub VIs and other dependencies. That way we could just open it up and see what's going on.

Thanks for the interest.

I end up phoning pickering support and spoke to one of there software developers. This is a known limitation with the drivers and  it is not possible to open a connection to the device without it resetting back to its default state. The engineer explained they are looking into solution for this issue however it would be a number of months before they're likely to release updated drivers.

Thanks again for the interest

Hi,

Sorry to hear there's a limitation on their current driver set, I hope they can find a solution to the problem quickly and release an updated driver. You're welcome, and wish you the best with the project!
