placing a picture file onto a graph

Requirements is to "paste" a picture file into a graph such that appropriate lines can be drawn using the properties of a graph onto the image. Can this be done? If so, what format must the picture file be in (ie BMP, JPG etc)?

You could paste the image on the front panel, importing a picture from file (sure about BMP, not about GIF and TIFF) and place your graph on it, making background transparent, so the picture will be shown under the lines you draw in the graph.
