Did you look at my VI attached above?
Run it and click the checkbox. See what happens. Then look at the code to see how it's done.
(I assume you are talking about numeric indicators, not "textboxes", and you are talking about visibility, not values.)

here I have saved the subVis for LV 9.0 version....see if this works
You can use Visible property to disable or enable to controls within the states. Attached file also shows how to create a property node.
To understand the functionality run in highlight execution mode. Also if serial read and write VI gives error you can place a Diagram disable structure around it for now.

can you explaine me what is going on with the given VI. what is NEWVAL there in event structure. can you explaineme clearly. I am new to labview and i want learn things quickly..

Which LV distribution do you have? Is it the base one? The base one does not have event structures.
As a side note I think that events should be supported in ALL distributions. I can understand when they were this new thing that only advanced users would need. But they are becoming too mainstream now. It is almost like not having access to clusters unless you buy the professional version.
