project explorer folder behavior

I haven't found this posted after a rapid search with the Subject's terms, but surely, I can't be the only one to be annoyed by the current default behavior of the project explorer's folders (I am mostly using Virtual Folders):

- when you drag a VI (belonging to the project or not) into a folder, said folder will auto-expand:

Before I drag this new VI into "Multipixel Detector Array":

After I have down that:

What the ...? Why did this folder open up to disclose its content? Now I can't find my VI anymore (well it is down the list since things are sorted alphabetically, but still...).

Certainly this is a very clever trick, but maybe this should behave like other "Explorers" do, that is:

- if you just drag and drop an object in a folder, it "disappears in it"

- if you drag and hold the object above the folder for long enough, said folder will open up and you can drop  it (or not) into it.

To me that qualifies as an unwanted feature... I mean the current one. Add to this that you cannot UNDO this drag & drop, and that's a lot of clicks to get the VI in the right folder and reorganize the explorer neatly...

Unlike your other annoyance, this one definitely always annoys me. Smiley Wink

Note: The LabVIEW project explorer window isn't the only IDE that does this. Visual Studio does the same thing when you drag and drop a file onto the Solution Explorer window and the target is a folder. So, the behavior is not unique to LabVIEW.

I don't think this needs a CAR, since it's not a bug. It just works that way, so there's nothing to fix. Posting an idea would be the better way to handle this.
