"File not found" when starting LabVIEW

When starting LabVIEW I get the information from windows: "File not found" even through LabVIEW is starting. Is there a way to avoid this (IE change program response timeout times in windows?)

hey

Are you launching LabVIEW by itself or through a VI? If its through a VI it could be a corrupted file! If its by itself then it would help if you gave some more info. What version of LabVIEW are you running and what OS are you using? Did you have any problems with the installation of LabVIEW?

I see the problem too - running LabVIEW 7 on Windows XP, while starting by clicking on the vi icon. It normally only happens when the computer is very busy. That is, just after a reboot when all the services are being started. It's acting as if LV is expecting a response in say 5 seconds, the computer is busy so it doesn't get the response - puts up the "file not found" message, 2 seconds later it finds the file and displays it. If I close LabVIEW and try it again, it works fine - because the computer isn't busy any more. So the question is - where is the timeout value being set?

Thanks

Hi Les,

You are right. I do get the same message. I simply start LV and then use the File > Open and select the file to open it.

It's a bit annoying, but doesn't prevent from opening the file somehow.. ;o)

I think this is a Windows shell "feature". I see the same message
sometimes under W2K when opening Word documents which are locate
d on the
network. Sometimes Word aborts after a while and sometimes it still
opens the file after the error dialog has been dismissed.

You should be starting a new thread, rather than adding a message to a 3-year old thread, as many may not see the message. All I can say is that I was able to open the VI. Try copying it to your local drive. It seems, based on the screenshot you provided, you have the file on a network drive so you may be running into the Windows shell timeout "feature" mentioned in the last message from 3 years ago, as well as more recently in other posts.
