"Variant to Flattened String" Hangs on PDA

As the title suggests, Variant to Flattened String hangs my PDA.  Using iPAQ Hx2190.  See attached screenshot. (And it's not the To Variant that's causing the problem -- I tested for that.)

Anyone successfully using variants on the PDA?

One more (tested on LV 8.0 and iPaq 4700) !

You are right, the problem is not the "to variant" primitive. When the string output is not wired to the "variant to flattened string" function, I get an error message, indicating that there is a number of missing vi's. When the "Type String" array is wired and the data string is not wired, the PDA does not hang.

Interestingly, I tried to display the variant content, using the variant indicator (available on the PDA palette), but it does not appear on the PDA screen !
