The project I posted does exactly what you want. It measures the data which is actually simulated by random number generation because as I said I haven't finished this project. But the measure case does DAQ simulation and when user doubleclicks the chart and the event occurs it's handlet in "Watch for events" case. I think this all is really close to the task you try to accomplish.
