reading with visa

Hello, I'm using serial.vi from NI Exampler Finder. I try to get results using COM1 for read and write, but I get error number 1073807339 (Timeout expiredbefore operation completed). What can I do? I'm using an example and I have no results!. Please, help me.

Hello,

Which example vi are you using excatly ?
What kind of device are you trying to communicate with ?
Can you tell after which phase the error shows up, only after a "read" or right after the "open port" ?
Are you sure about the settings ? (baud rate, termination char, ...)

Sorry, the cable that I used was wrong, my .vi file it's ok.
