Resizing front panels is messy and will probably be always messy unless
someone manages to get NextOS from the Next computer to get the world
standard. That is the only OS which had a failry well designed graphics
system which could be scaled as will.
Under Windows you have always the problem about fonts not scaling well
no matter what you do. This results in controls (with embedded text) not
being able t
o scale properly without clipping text. So you have to
choose between two evels, either clipping text or not proportionally
scaling controls. NI chose for the second solution.
Additional problem is that a front panel simply has not enough defined
relations of the different objects in relation to each other to allow
LabVIEW to make a well defined decision as to how to move and resize
each control in relation to the others.
Basically the only useful auto resizing mode is to only scale one
element on the front panel and let the others simply move along. This is
also the typical operation of ALL user interfaces which allow resizing.
