Hello,

LabVIEW 7.0 does not work for Linux kernel 2.6.

Linux kernel 2.6 is now supported, using LabVIEW 7.1 for Linux.

You will have to upgrade to LabVIEW 7.1.

I hope that this sorts out your queries.

Kind Regards

Dear LouisP,

Thanks for your help. I've upgraded to Labview 7.1 but I still get the same problem. Labview crashes with error message:

LabVIEW caught fatal signal
7.1 - Received SIGSEGV
Reason: address not mapped to object
Attempt to reference address: 0x27ebe4f4
Segmentation fault

I'm able to run LV 7.0 on kernel 2.6.3 without problems. However, I've
read that it could have trouble with the new threading system in 2.6.x.
LV 7.1 supposedly resolves potential threading issues. Still, you should
be able to at least open LV without any problems - from what I've seen so
far.

I bet the problem you're seeing is more links to the Fedora 2 distibution.
Be careful with Fedora, they tend to use the most recent release of
everything. I had a similar discussion with someone less than a month
ago. Looked like there was a problem with the version of glibc libraries
in Fedora 2. I'm not sure what he did next, he never replied to the
group. I bet he went back to Fedora 1.

Good luck!

Check out the other thread here about FC 2 crashes. I just added the following...

Did some more checking. Running Fedora core 2, same utilities and libraries, LabVIEW works fine with kernel 2.6.7-1.494.2.2 and it bombs after the splash screen in kernel 2.6.8-1.521 . I have the 'straces' from both and will compare them.

Just installed Fedora Core 3 (they call it Fedora Linux 3 now) and Labview runs fine. The kernel is probably the big difference and it is:
Linux a235153.n1.vanderbilt.edu 2.6.9-1.667 #1 Tue Nov 2 14:41:25 EST 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

You can probably just upgrade the kernel in FC 2 or whatever and Labview 7.1 will run.
