save content of picture control as .jpg into excel file?

Is it possible to save the contents shown of a picture control as a jpeg file into an excel file along with other data? Is this possible without using ActiveX? If I have to use ActiveX how do I use this?
Thanks

I don't know of any way other than Active-X. There is a nice Active-X control available quite reasonable by e-mailing kusluski@mail.ic.net. I have used it to insert pictures into Excel spreadsheets with good results. It has quite an extensive set of options to do just about anything I have ever wanted to do with Excel.

Good luck

Hello AndyBE,

ActiveX is definitely going to be your best bet. Ive attached an example that should meet your needs. Let me know if this works for you.

Have a nice day!

Hi Robert!
Thanks for the example. Unfortunately I can not find following vis on my pc:
Read BMP File.vi
Read PNG File.vi
Read JPG File.vi
Row Col to range.vi
Write JPEG File.vi
Write PNG File.vi

Where do I find them? Is this a question of the version?

Andy,
This example does rely on the VIs you listed, which are unfortunately not available in the Base Package, which I am assuming you have. You will have to upgrade in order to use them. Otherwise, you will have to implement the .jpg format yourself.

Robert,
I noticed that all off the vis regarding a the png or jpeg format have (excel) added to the file names thats why LV couldn't find the vis. So I have those vis. But I wasn't able to find the Row Col to Range.vi. Is this in the LabVIEW package or is this a customized vi? If it is customized. Is it possible for you to provide it?
Thanks

They're all part of the "Report Generation Toolkit for Microsoft Office" addon to LabVIEW
Info on it is at http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=5769〈=US

Andy,

Donald is correct. I apologize for sending you an example that relies on the Report Generation Toolkit. The (excel) versions of the VIs you do not have are not the same as the ones you do have. You will need the toolkit to run this example. However, the differences between the VIs are not great. It looks like they simply modify the data to match the form that Excel wants. You can either purchase the toolkit or rewrite those portions yourself. Good luck!
