serial communication

I am using the evaluation version of LabView.

I have succeeded controling devices using GPIB ,but I have tried using  serial (the example VIs in LabView) communication

and did not get any response.

Can the problem be the evaluation sofware (this option is disabled)?

Yes.

It is dissabled in evaluation. You can access serial port through LV Student Edition minimum.
