server and client in website

Hi

I have a problem about the web browser. I use daq card to perform datalogging continuously without delay. And I try to apply the web publishing tool to have remote display and control through the internet. When I connected to the server computer through the internet, the front panel show up and then have a error message about the client computer can not catch up with the server. I have to refresh to update the front panel in client computer and then got the same message. Is anyone can tell me how to solve this issue? Thanks

I had a similar situation on a project last year. I was using Labview 6.1 on a Win 2K machine. After speaking to Austin, we came to the conclusion that I was feeding too much data at once to the server, and it was over-running the capability of the remote client. In my case, I had a HUGE number of controls on the panel to be displayed, and the server built into Labview was suposedly not designed to handle such large amounts of data. I upgraded to Labview 7.0, and it cured the problem for me. I don't know if this is your problem, but that was my experience with the same error situation. BTW, in addition to the Labview upgrade, I cherry-picked the data that I was sending, as a precaution the ensure I had enough head-space to accomodate future requirements.

Hi, Dave

Thanks for your sharing experience. I am using labview 7.0 right now for my project. The data I feed to the server is data sets, which should be less than yours. I will try to do some modification according to your experience. Thanks for your help again.

HI Fred:
Good luck. Austin told me that the web server built into Labview was sort of a "Server Lite", and not intended for heavy duty serving applications. They didn't elaborate on that, but I found that I had to reduce my served data by about 60% before I got reliable continuous remote display. I looked for an alternative, but was in a time bind, and could not spend the amount of research time on this that I would like to have. If you come up with a better usable server application, please let me know, as I expect to have a similar application in the works in the next few months.

Have a nice day

Dave
