Hi there,
I would like to ask if there are any possibilities to control a KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) switch by software?
We have tried different VI's trying to write and imitate strokes of the keyboard. The strokes can be imitated but are not 'seen' by our KVM switch. The problem is that the switch is phycically placed in the USB line from the keyboard and the software imitation of the strokes can not be 'seen' by the switch.
Does anyone have an idea or workaround for this problem?
With best regards,
Jens Dassen

issue the equivallent of "Scroll-Lock Scroll-lock". Sorry, I have no serial sniffer at home (nor LabVIEW- Today) but any good serial sniffer utility should give you the "right" interpertation of what is really transmitted when the scroll-lock key is pressed. (Hint: "Up arrow" really is "\1B"? in ascii)

Not sure how you would send a message "upstream" essentially To the keyboard. You may have to consider a different KVM switch if possible.

Hello Jens;
Can you give some more information about the KVM you're currently using?
I'm not the expert on the topic, but I would like to have some more information.
Edit: Sorry problem in our internal system made me choose the wrong thread.

I'm guessing that the KVM switch needs to see a physical key being pressed from the attached keyboard, so I don't think it's possible to do this. We can fake keystrokes to the operating system, but I think the switch happens inside the KVM swith and outside of the OS.

I completely agree with Bill.
However take a look at the original post date: this thread is rather old and probably doesn't deserve any more attention.
