software upgrades to 8170 cpu?

How much of a pain is it to upgrade an 8170 cpu to XP and newer
versions of Labview? Came across an 8170 new in the box with NT and
was wondering how involved the upgrades are? Anyone done this and know
of hitches or difficult issues, or do the updates go smoothly?
Interested in user's perspective. Have not purchased the unit and am
new to Labview. ... Thanks!

Hello,

In essence a PXI controller such as the PXI-8170 is a mini computer.  Therefore when looking at upgrading or installing software on the controller you have to make sure that it meets the system requirements for that software (Ram, Free hard Drive Space, Processor type and speed, etc.).  Just be sure that the 8170's hardware meets the system requirements for Windows XP and the version of LabVIEW that you want to upgrade to.
