some PC's serial port can't be found in LV, while it can by other softwares.

IN my computer the Basic Serial Read and Write example cannot be run correctly for the VISA resource is grey. However, I can use other serial port debugging software in my PC. And I have found the same problem in lots of computers. Therefore, my program can't be run in these computers. Is it the sake of mainboard, OS or others? How to tackle this problem. My OS is Windows XP, mainboard is ASUS A7N8X-X, CPU is AMD Sempron 2400+.

is it possible that you have not installed the NI-VISA driver on your own PC alternatively the NI-VISA Run-Time-Engine on the target PCs?
