Hi Vidhya,
First of all before we get further with your problem ,how fresh are you to labview labview programming,it seems you have not gone through any of the programming details of labview before you started your vi,just search for a Labview style guide online here in this forum and then get on to the vi,else it shall become very difficult for you to debug.
cheers

Hi Vidhya

Plz explain your problem broadly with some snap shots, so it will easy to solve the error. In your current vi i cant fine any error except file path (which can be solved by generating it at c:\ at my desk).
Also give me administrative password to operate your vi.

hello vicky and jenillia
i am pretty new to labview.all i want is how to rectify this error 9 ie an error has occured while loading the readcharactersfromfile.vi. it says that version 7.1 is newer than the version 7.The file exists in C:\ but due this readcharactersfromfile.vi error, it is not able to read the contents of c:\sms.txt. if possible please sens me the file.llb for version 7.0

You're using LabVIEW 7 or 7.1? If you're using 7.0 and somehow your VI is pointing to a version 7.1 function, right click on Read Characters From File, select Replace, and select the function that's on the File I/O palette. If you managed to somehow save a version 7.1 VI in the same location as the 7.0 function, you could reinstall LabVIEW or try doing a repair. If you close out LabVIEW completely, restart it and place the function on your block diagram and don't get the error, doing the replace will work.
