tdms excel

Hello,

Can you attach a small example of your tdms data which shows this problem - I'd like to reproduce it if possible!

Thanks,

JLS

I get Unknown error 0X80020009 when ever I try to load the TDMS file with the ExcelTDM.dll. No data loads. Is anyone working on this or am I only luck one that is still having problems?

Hi Everyone,

I have been using the TDM Excel Add-in version 1.1.10 extensively with Excel 2003 and a little with Excel 2007, and I have had no problems loading TDM or TDMS files.  If you have trouble loading a particular file into Excel, please attach the TDM or TDMS file(s) to your Discussion Forum post.  The R&D group responsible for the TDM Excel Add-in has been HIGHLY responsive to bugs reported thus far, and fixes to the TDM Excel Add-in often appear on the web in a matter of a week or two after you send us the file that gives you trouble.

So far I do not see any attached data files to this Discussion Forum thread, so there's very little I can do to help the two or three folks on it who have reported trouble.  Any file that does not load correctly should be reported as a potential bug in the TDM Excel Add-in.  It is true that Excel 2007 only imports up to a million rows and earlier Excel versions import only up to 65,000 rows, but in both cases the TDM Excel Add-in will ask you WHICH subset of rows you want to load and then load that subset correctly-- this should not cause an error message or incorrect values.

Hi Brad,

I've got one for you, but it is real data and a lot (tdms of 50 MB, zipped 35) of data.
Can I contact you directly to discuss this?

Hi Ton,

Before you send it in, try renaming the TDMS file with only standard alphabetic and numeric characters.  R&D just got done fixing a bug with the TDM Excel Add-in where it does not clean the worksheet name enough that it takes from the file name-- Excel apparently has quite a few character limitations in the worksheet name.  If renaming your file fixes the problem, then we have a new verrsion of the TDM Excel Add-in (which will be posted soon) which will happily load your remaining files.  If renaming does not fix your loading problem, then definitely post your huge data file to ftp.ni.com/incoming and send me an email at brad.turpin@ni.com to let me know it's there.

Note that if you have a TDM file, you need to rename it interactively in DIAdem or programmatically in LabVIEW-- just changing the names of the TDM and/or TDX files in Windows Explorer will render the file unreadable by all applications.

Hi Brad,
My file name is voltage.tmds, that should be simple enough. There are 4 channels from a PCI-4462 created with SignalExpress in data loging mode. Just as simple as I can make it. I have tried to load 20 different files and have yet to load one that works. All the files are created the same way with the same names.

Thanks,
John
