Hi
I have a Tenny versatenn III model T10RC.
I have changed the serial connection on the Tenney to:
COM: xon
baud: 9600
data: 70
then using putty with the same setup to connect. I did use a null modem cable db25 male to db9 female--->db9male------------usb on laptop
Result:
No display on the window
tenney displays err2 3
I checked the Err2 3 //Framing error. - - Check baud rate, parity, stop bit.
+Do I need a straight through cable ?
Can you tell what I'm missing here ?
Thansk.

In my explination I stated that a null modem cable will not work and a straight through cable must be used. I also said the computers port settings should be
BAUD = 19200,
data bits = 8
stop bits = 1
parity = none
flow control = none
Your chamber is a different model. I also noticed that your said it has a db25 connector for communicating, most serial is db9. What does your manual say? You must make sure the pinouts will work for RS232 comms. Does it have the option for GPIB or LAN control?

ok I connected with the exact setup as indicated
putty uses
19200/8/1/none/none
Tenney:
9600/70/x0n
cable:
ST -checked the wiring to make sure its a ST cable
On putty when I open window I type
? C1
On the Tenney I see ER2 8//8 Noise error. - - Check wiring.
According to the manual, this is a ieee-488 interface card..maybe im typing it wrong on the putty window...
thanks

Noise error is rather odd. That 488 interface card should have the ability to use GPIB comms. If so, try using GPIB and send commands over MAX. Max should recognise the chamber (it actually sees the 488 comm card in the chamber and the commands are sent to that, the 488 card then translates it into commands the controller can understand)
Have you tried calling Tenney tech support? This seems to be a different issue than what I experienced with our chamber since I was getting COMM Timeout errors. They may be able to help you more than I.

I set the pc to the exact same setup as the Tenney [as suggested earlier]
Baud: 9600
Data bits:7
Parity: Odd
Stop bits:1
Flow: xon/xoff
And ensured syntax was correct..this time I got output for the commands sent. Thanks!
Would you have a cheat sheet for all the commands used on the versatenn 111 ?
