thermocouple ad595

Hello All,

I am using Labview 7.0 with a 6030E and a SCB-68 to read 3 temperatures (Room, 40, 85 C) with K-type thermocouples.  The outputs of the thermocouples are hooked upto a AD595 Thermocouple amplifier.  The output of the AD595 goes to the break out board (SCB-68).  I use the equations by NIST to convert the voltage to degrees celcius.  My reading is about 2 degrees off.  Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions to fix this problem.  Omega says that K-type thermocouples have an error of +/- 0.7...

Thank you for your help!!

Hi S.L.,

Thank you for posting.  You said you were reading from three thermocouples. Did you notice the reading was off by the same amount on all three readings?

Also, I looked up the Omega K-type thermocouple datasheet.  It says that the "Limits of Error" for it are 2.2 degrees C or 0.75%, whichever is greater.  According to that, it seems that what you are seeing is within expected operating behaviors.  Furthermore, there could be additional error provided by the AD595 that could affect the measurement.  I hope this helps!

Regards,

Joe S.
