trouble appending to excel file

Hi, I'm using a case structure to write excel files based on the example http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/EFCE1C25DCE7483E86256CAF00539451. It is writing new files beautifully, but it is NOT appending to existing files. Does this have anything to do with the for loop? Is a for loop required to append data? If not, are there any other suggestions?
