upgrading embedded controller to xp sp3

I was upgrading my embedded PXI controller from Win2000 to XP SP3. The controller is a PXI-8186.

I received a fatal error on install stating an Invailed parameter in the location D:\I386\ASMS.(the cd used to install sw).

I tried all different methods, repair, fresh install, install from DOS, format then fresh install. All options put me back in the same spot with the error.

I then used a XP SP2 disk and installed with NO problems.

Is there a bug when upgrading a controller from Win2000 to XP SP3?

Howdy JayB,

Given that info, I'm fairly certain that there's something physically wrong with the disc you're using to install SP3. Did you burn the disk yourself? You should try either (a) burning another copy of the disc at a slower write speed (high write speeds are prone to errors) or (b) copying the contents of the disc to your hard disk and running the installer from your hard drive instead of the CD.

Give one or both of those suggestions a shot, and let us know if it doesn't fix your problem.
