usb to rs232

After running my program for 15 to 30 minutes, the USB to RS232 box that is controlling 4 power supplies stops working and vanishes from MAX and device manager.  I really need some help.

My suspicion is that it is the USB/RS232 adapter that is the problem. When it stops working, and doesn't show up in MAX does it still show up in Windows Device Manager? These units install Windows level drivers which allows Windows to interpert them as comm ports, which is how they are seen by MAX, etc., so if they are disappearing it is probably an issue with their drivers, or that the unit it self is "dying", possibly a thermal issue or other intermittent.  How do you restore its functionality? When it stops does Windows give any indication?

i see the same issue, but the amount of time till the fail varies.  Ive had it fail in 3 min and in 3 hrs, but it has also worked perfectly for 21 hrs....

Im using VISA 4.1 now.  I just downloaded VISA 4.6.  Gonna see if that helps...

If anyone else is seeing this problem (error -1073807194), have u been able to characterize the prob?

thx !
