vi setup

I've got a few questions on working with vi's in general :

  • in the block diagram, is it possible to zoom in ?
  • everytime I open my vi, I get an error "windows can't find {my vi}"; then it finds it, & I just ignore the error - why do I get this error ?
  • I have a table control on the front panel; everytime I roll the midde mouse button I get " fatal internal error - panel.cpp line 1210 LabView 8.0 - why ?
  • how can I tell how much memory my program is taking up ?
Thanks,
ak

1.  No, it's not possible to zoom in, or zoom out for that matter.  Though the navigation window does essentially give you a zoom out capability.  Perhaps this will be a feature in a future LV version?

2.  I sometimes get the same error, often if I am opening LV for the first time by clicking on a VI directly.  Check out this link http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=110779#M110779

3. I don't know about this one.  Perhaps this link can help http://forums.ni.com/ni/board/message?board.id=170&message.id=191479&query.id=84835#M191479 for a way to report the error to NI for investigation.  If it is that repeatable, perhaps NI will be able to investigate.

4.  I would look at the Windows task manager processes tab.  There may be other better ways I don't know about.

4. Go to VI Properties>Memory Usage.

Hey cig438,
As for your third question, if you can post a VI here that reproduces the error, I will be more than happy to report it for you.  Do you have a VI that causes this error all the time?  Can this error be reproduced in a brand new VI as well?

For the 3rd question :
I think the more accurate assessment is : most of the time, after I click & insert a value into my table control & immediately middle-mouse roll up or down the vi to access another control, I get the fatal error. It may be just that my mouse is still inside the bounds of the table control when this happens. Also I believe my table control is in the disable state.

Hello Cig,

I tried recreating the crash you are experiencing (item #3), but with no luck.  If you open a new VI, lay down a table control, and disable it - are you able to reproduce this issue?  Have you tried doing this on another computer?  I cannot find any internal documentation on this error, so I would definitely like to report it to R&D.  After opening LabVIEW when this crash occurs, you should be prompted to Investigate Now, Later, or Do Not Investigate.  Please choose to investigate now so the error log is send to us at NI.

Good luck,

OK - will do.
I haven't tried it on another computer. Currently don't have one.
