I was wondering whether Labview can accept payment (in AUS$) over the internet (from a merchant?)?

LabVIEw can do almost anything if you invest time and money into it. However I do not think you do want to build your own internet merchant system based on LabVIEW. There are many ready made systems that offer online store solutions, some even open source.

And the interfaces to online payment services are complicated, the documentation how to interface to them not easily optainable, and last but not least those services will require for sure a lengthy and expensive audit of any software that tries to interface with them.

Unless you want to go and develop your own LabVIEW payment module software to sell (can't imagine there is a market for that though) you simply better sign up with an internet provider that has the necessary infrastructure in place and can sell you an online store solution with your internet account.
