XP is a much better OS for true multi-threaded operations and if you have a modern multi-core pc, then LabVIEW is also taking advantage of that. I haven't had to use 98 in a long time and I don't remember all of the details but it doesn't surprise me that you had problems when you moved. I don't think there were as many threads available in 98 and switching between them was certainly a lot different.
