Hello!
For some reason my alias for my TTi PL303QMD-P no longer works.
the PSU is connected to my PC via USB and is listed as a COM port (COM34).
If I remove the alias and select ASRL34::INSTR in the resource name field I can communicate and control the PSU.
If i try with the alias "PL303" it times out and gives Error -1073807360 occurred at PLP Initialize With Options.vi
Has anyone come accross anything similar and know how to resolve this?
It's driving me mad!
Thanks for looking,
Iain

Sorry I can't help on this particular issue. But in the past I never used resource aliases for COM ports. I would either reference the COM port by number, which Windows shouldn't change but can in some strange circumstances. Or I would query the available devices using the VISA Find Resource, then try communicating with each of them until I get the response I wanted. This way there was no need to configure anything, it would just query all ports and try to find my device with some known command.

Aliases can be viewed and modified using Measurement and Automation Explorer (NI-MAX).
Typically found in the National Instruments\MAX folder (NIMax.exe)
You can check if the alias is still assigned to asrl34, and if not change it.

Hello!
Thanks everyone for your replies!
I managed to locate the error.
The Aliasing was corrct for the instrument however the IVI driver was pointing to the wrong port.
I corrected it here.....
IVI Drivers - Logical Names - PL303 - Go To
From here I then selected the device and pointed the resoutce descriptor to the right place!
Thanks again
