visa resource control not finding any devices

I have an appliction that uses some VISA drivers to communicate with a Xantrex power supply.  I wrote the app a while a go and it works fine on the machine that I orignally installed it on.  Now I want to run it from another machine, but it can't find any devices.  Usually, the VISA resource control shows a drop down box listing all of the devices, but on this machine it won't drop down.  When I go into Measurement and Automation, I get the error "No VISA resources found."  I know that the code itself works, but there is just some part of the VISA driver that I am missing.  I downloaded NI-VISA, but when I install it, it inspects my configuration and says that everything is already installed.  I must have installed something on the other machine that isn't installed here, I just can't figure out what.  Any help would be great.

Thanks

What type of connection do you have to the instrument? GPIB or serial? What shows up in MAX?

I have an NI pcmcia GBIP card.  When I go into Measurement and Automation Explorer (is that MAX?) it sees both power supplies, but below it there is an exclamation "No VISA resources found."  When I click on the "Instrument 0," and go the VISA properties tab, it shows the name of the device GPIB0::12::INSTR.  Is there something that I need to register to make the VISA work??? I was reading somewhere about an ini file.  I also found the Driver Wizard, but I don't know any of the parameters that it is asking for.

Unless you are using IVI drivers, you should only need to have NI-VISA and NI-488 installed. What versions of MAX, NI-VISA, and NI-448 do you have installed? Have you tried uninstalling what you have and doing a fresh install?
