Hi
Thanks a ton. That does answer a lot. Also the about other question I had asked -will a 13 v signal cause any problems to the board ?

hello Sir,
this is the detailed structure of what I have been trying to do so far.
I enter labview and I choose the input as DAQ assistant and I need to acquire a signal from a digital port connected to port 14 according to the manual of the 9401 module. I then try to display the signal on the screen using a amplitude and level measurement signal analysis operator. My sensor is digital and it gives a voltage of 13.8V. I am a new user and need to complete my project soon.Could someone please explain how the diagram is done for this? I am attaching my diagram . It obviously doesnt seem to be working .

I really don't know what you are doing. First, a signal of 13.8V is not normally considered digital. The DAQ board is designed for TTL level digital where anything between 0 and about .8 is considered logic 0 and anything between about 2.4 and 5V is a logic 1. Though the DAQ card may be able to handle the 13.8V input, as I said it would be better to convert it to TTL. If you don't, what is the signal level for a logic 0?
And, as I already mentioned, there is absolutely no way to get anything other than a digital reading from the DAQ card. Using the amplitude and measurement function is just plain silly. All that you get out of it is a true or false. There is nothing to plot on a graph.
Also, you may have completely misdone the DAQ Assistant. It would be better for you to attach the actual VI. NO ONE can tell anything from a picture of a couple of Express VIs. It would also be of enormous help if instead of referring to 'my sensor', you attached the data sheet for it or at least provide the make and model.
