water level control of a horizontal cylindrical tank system

Hello all,

There's an option in Labview 11.0 HELP----FIND EXAMPLES,, in which i gone throw CONTROL & SIMULATION---CASE STUDIES---NONLINEAR--HORIZONTAL CYLINDRICAL NONLINEAR TANK

Now, the problem is the water level equation given as in attached file..How is that equation derived??????I am not getting any data related to it in net...

Kindly acknowledge me..This will be a great help to me.

Hi jbpk,

that formula describes the change of fluid level over time depending on "output flow" and "input flow".

You already have that desciption text, what else do you need to know (beside elementary mathematics)?

Best regards,
GerdW

Hi jbpk,

that formula has been derived from pure physics...

Change of (fluid) level is dependend on input (qi) and output (Cv) of the tank. All the rest are just geometry factors...

Best regards,
GerdW

A simple google search for flow rate calculations will lead to sites like this:  http://www.pitt.edu/~patzer/dialysis/rteqnexample.htm

You can find alot of examples out there.
