Hi
I have been able to successfully publish a FP to web using LV web server. The FP has a simple numerical indicator (updated every 30 minutes) and a mouse click anywhere on the panel. The only interaction the browser will have (need) is a mouse click on the FP.
The Fp will be accessed by the multitudes at random and indeterminate times (they may only visit the wepage once for a looksee for curiosity sake)
What concerns me is that, from my help searches on the forum and elsewhere, it seems that the RTE is required....no ifs, buts or maybes.
It bothers me that the users will be required to download a >30MB file and install it on their PC. If this is the case, then for a once of visit, they won't bother.
My questions are:
1. Is it ABSOLUTELY the case that the RTE is required?
and
2. Is there a workaround...even outside LV.....to avoid this?
Thanks for your input
Regards
Ray

If the casual users don't need to be able to click, you can publish an image of your front panel without requiring the user to download the RTE. You might be able to use this as a hook to download it, "If you'd like to interact with this page, please download the Run-Time Engine." Alternatively, if you're willing to experiment a bit, the Internet Toolkit provides CGI tools that may let your users interact with your VI in a limited way. The help suggests this can be done but I've never had an occasion to try it.

If, say I restricted the vi to "looking" only, would the numerical indicator still update if the RTE was missing from their pc?

Ray,
Only if you refresh the image! But this is not a bad idea if you need only basic functionality. I guess we are all eagerly awaiting the LabVIEW thin client WEB UI Builder- come on NI !!

You haven't seen the new Web UI Builder board?

Dennis
No, I haven't seen that, but now I know it's there, I'll have a look through it.
Thanks for the heads-up

Is it correct that before you can attempt part 2 of the tutorial, you need to buy the licence.
When I select the link to part 2, I get a page that directs me to purchase the licence and thats as far as I can go.
