what can i do to prevent the windows installer 1913 error?

the error states "could not update the ini file", while installing on a windows xp WS to a windows NT 4 mapped drive. the microsoft solution only works on os versions 98 through 2000.

Windows XP actually already has Windows Installer 2.0, which is what the fix is for 98 through 2000. Therefore, it should work correctly on that OS. Have you experienced the same error with XP?

Yes, the same error occurs with my XP pro version.
By the way, I noticed the following setting on the labview 7.0 Install CD in setup.ini

[MsiEngine]
WinNTPath=supportfiles\instmsiw.exe
Win9xPath=supportfiles\instmsi.exe
RequiredVersion=2.0.0.0
CommandLine=/c:"msiinst.exe /delayreboot"

What instmsiw will be used? the one on CD or the in Windows XP?
