what does a flashing global variable mean

I am trying to debug a vi that controls some instruments.  The vi uses a combination of several global variables and flat sequence structure. The variables are referenced both inside and outside the structure.  When the program should exit and stop, it does not stop but looking at the block diagram, I see one of the global variables blinking.

Does anyone know what this signifies?  I may have some kind of race condition, but it is not obvious and I need some guidance on what to look for.

I suspect that you must have placed a breakpoint in there and that's why there is some flashing/blinking going on. Also, is it possible for you to post your code so we can visualize your issue.

Hi Adnan:

That was the reason.  The breakpoint was not located near the global, so I did not think of it.

Thanks very much
